Canada has officially declared Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement as a terrorist organization. The country made the announcement on Monday (December 2) under the Criminal Code. Anadolu Agency reported this information on Tuesday.
Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement, also known as the Houthi group. The Canadian government alleges that the Houthis are heating up the Middle East with a series of attacks on civilians and in the Red Sea.
The war between Hamas and Israel has been going on in Gaza since October last year. More than 43,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in more than a year of fighting. Millions were injured. Millions of Palestinians have also been displaced.
In solidarity with the Palestinians in this war, the Houthis launched attacks on many ships in the Red Sea that have ties to Israel.
The new decision will result in the seizure of any Houthi assets in Canada. Apart from this, if anyone provides financial or intellectual support to this group, the country’s police can file a complaint against them.
According to the Canadian government’s statement, the Houthi group has ties to Iran’s IRGC and Hezbollah.
