When the ball flew over the boundary in the pull shot, Enamul Haque was at the crease. Seeing the six, he took off his helmet and knelt down, and immediately let his body fall to the ground. Later, from lying down, he raised his bat and helmet towards the sky. After a while, he stood up and celebrated for a while longer with a wide smile on his face. His crease partner Nurul Hasan Sohan hugged him.

Enamul started the last over with 88 runs. He was not on strike. However, he got a strike on the second ball and crossed the boundary for ninety. Two runs came on the fourth ball. The fifth ball was a century on that six.

Enamul played an unbeaten innings of 101 runs off 67 balls for Khulna Division against Dhaka Division in Sylhet on Tuesday morning. His innings included 5 sixes and 10 fours.

This is the second century of Enamul’s T20 career. He scored the first one on this ground, the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium was then called Sylhet Stadium. In December 2013, he scored 105 runs off 63 balls for Prime Bank Cricket Club in the Victory Day T20 against Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Starting with a zero, Enamul had a total of 46 runs in the previous four matches of this tournament. Finally, he was able to fulfill the team’s expectations by playing a big innings.

This innings is exactly the way Enamul usually bats. Where the combination is a few great shots, sometimes slowing down a bit, and then making up for it with big shots.

In the power play, he scored 33 runs off 22 balls. Then he hit a great six off Shubhagat Home in a slug sweep. He needed 38 balls to reach fifty.

After the twelfth over, he could not hit any boundaries in four overs. At that time, even a century seemed a long way off. At the end of 16 overs, his score was 63 off 52 balls. However, towards the end, the 32-year-old batsman picked up the pace again and raced towards three figures.

In the seventeenth over, he hit Emon for two fours, and in the next over, he hit Nazmul Islam Apu for a six. In the penultimate over, he hit Salauddin Shakil for a four and a six.

The last over was bowled by Emon, who was recently the Man of the Final and Man of the Tournament of the Under-19 Asia Cup. Nurul Hasan Sohan took a single off his first ball. Enamul got a four off the edge of the bat on the next ball. He tried to play a reverse ramp on the third ball and could not do it with the bat and bowl. He rushed for two runs with speed by sending it to long on the next ball. Then he pulled a six off the short ball and scored a century.

He finished the innings unbeaten with 1 run off the last ball.

Captain Sohan remained unbeaten on 34 runs off 23 balls with him. Khulna scored 180 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs.

This innings is Enamul’s second century in the National League T20. In the first match of the tournament, young opener Zisan Alam scored 100 off 53 balls with 10 sixes. In that match, Dhaka’s Ariful Islam was dismissed for 94 runs. Later, Tamim Iqbal played an innings of 91 runs for Chittagong.
