The South Korean series ‘Squid Game’, released in 2021, received a huge response around the world. The series, which won multiple awards including an Emmy Award, broke records. After a long wait of three years, its second season was released, which once again took the audience by storm.
Since its release on December 26, ‘Squid Game 2’ has been the talk of the town among viewers around the world. The Korea Times reported that it topped Netflix’s global series chart within just a day of its release.
Forbes also noted that the series topped the charts in all 93 countries where Netflix is active. Viewers in each country are showing great interest in the second season.
This thriller series is written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk. The second season also stars Lee Jang-jae, the actor from the first season. He is also joined by several other familiar faces from the first season. The new season has stars like Im Siwon, Kang Ha Neul, Lee Jin Wook, and Park Gyu Young.
Last August, Netflix announced that work on the third season of the series has already begun. It is planned to be released next year.
It remains to be seen how far this series will go, following the success of ‘Squid Game 2’.
