Zimbabwe was in the driver’s seat in the Bulawayo Test. However, Afghanistan turned around with a pair of centuries from Rahmat Shah and Ismat Alam. The Afghans got a good capital to fight. Also, Afghanistan won by 72 runs with Rashid Khan’s career-best bowling.
The first Test was drawn. So the Afghans won the Bulawayo Test and took the series. Batting at a target of 278 runs, Zimbabwe was bowled out for 205 runs. Rashid took 7 wickets for 66 runs.
Afghanistan scored 157 runs in the first innings. In reply, Zimbabwe was in the driver’s seat with a lead of 86 runs after 243 runs. However, Afghanistan scored 363 runs with centuries from Rahmat and Ismat.
Zimbabwe’s target to win was 278 runs. Zimbabwe fought to chase this run with the bat of Ben Curran, Sikandar Raja and Craig Ervine. However, the other batsmen surrendered helplessly under Rashid’s spin. In the end, Zimbabwe was bowled out for 205 runs. Ervine scored 53 runs off 103 balls. Besides, Curran and Sikandar Raja both scored 38 runs.
