A massive wildfire has spread across Los Angeles, the heart of the US film industry. At least five people have died in the rapidly spreading, uncontrolled fire. 130,000 people have been ordered to evacuate.
A wildfire broke out in the Hollywood Hills on Thursday morning (January 9) local time. The homes of film stars and celebrities have been gutted by the flames.
Al Jazeera reports that stars like Mandy Moore, Cary Elwes and Paris Hilton have lost their homes in the fire. Billy Crystal and his wife Janice’s 45-year-old home has been destroyed.
Some award ceremonies have also been postponed due to the impact of such a terrible fire in Tadkapara. In particular, the announcement of Oscar nominations has been postponed by 2 days. In addition, almost all movie premieres this week have also been canceled.
Several Hollywood studios have suspended production. Universal Studios has closed its theme park between Pasadena and Pacific Palisades.

Oscar host Billy Crystal and his wife Janice said they were heartbroken by the loss of their home, where they have raised their children and grandchildren since 1979.
Reality TV star Hilton X wrote in a post, “Watching the news with my family and watching our house burn to the ground on live TV… is something that should not be experienced.”
Former California First Lady Shriver said, “It’s all gone. Our neighborhood, our restaurants… Firefighters are doing everything they can, but this fire is massive, out of control.”
