Reversal News Desk,
Russia is closely monitoring the recent claims by US President-elect Donald Trump over Canada and Greenland. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Thursday (January 9) that Moscow is closely monitoring the dramatic developments surrounding the US claims to Canada and Greenland.
He said, “We are closely monitoring these dramatic developments. Thank God, this is still limited to statements!”
In response to a question from the Russian news agency TASS, Peskov said that in fact, such claims are essentially part of the US’s bilateral relations with Denmark and other countries.
Donald Trump recently released a new map of the US, including Canada. However, the recently resigned Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, immediately reacted to this incident by publishing separate maps of ‘the United States’ and ‘not the United States’ in the Liberal Party X Post.
Earlier, Trump had also threatened to make Canada the 51st state of the US several times through economic pressure.
He recently discussed Canada at a press conference at his home in Florida. There, he said, get rid of artificial borders. Then see how it looks. This would be very good for national security. Canada and the US would be united.
On the other hand, Trump did not rule out the threat of using military force to occupy the autonomous region of Greenland, Denmark. He has repeatedly expressed his desire to acquire Greenland, saying that the Arctic island is important for the national and economic security of the US.
