BNP’s three affiliate organizations have taken a policy decision to hold a long march to protest the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India, and the flag desecration. Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal may jointly hold this long march from Dhaka to Akhaura. To this end, a meeting is being held today at the central office of the three organizations in Nayapaltan in the capital. The date of the long march may be fixed there. This information has been learned from relevant sources.
When asked about this, none of the three organizations agreed to talk. However, on condition of anonymity, the leaders said that they were supposed to submit a memorandum to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. But that plan has been changed. Now they want to hold a long march to the Bangladesh border on the other side of Agartala, India. The initial decision has been made to do it from Dhaka to Akhaura.
The leaders of the three organizations also said that BNP is the largest political party in the country. The leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliate organizations believe that patriotism comes first. Therefore, there is no concession on the issue of independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. The people are also united on this issue. Entering the Assistant High Commission in Agartala, lowering the Bangladesh flag, setting it on fire and vandalizing it is a clear violation of the Vienna Convention. After the fall of the autocratic Awami League government on August 5, various conspiracies are going on in the country to create chaos. As a neighboring country, relations with India should be based on fairness. The people of Bangladesh also want relations. But it seems from India’s actions that the government of that country has continued relations with the Awami League without having relations with the people of Bangladesh. Therefore, they need to change their previous policy. Relations should be established based on what the people of Bangladesh want.

In the changed situation after the fall of the Awami League government, a kind of tension arose in the relationship between India and Bangladesh over the arrest and bail issue of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das. Some quarters and media in India are constantly spreading lies and propaganda against Bangladesh. After several recent incidents including the Chinmoy issue, the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India was attacked and vandalized and the national flag was desecrated. In addition, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of India has proposed the deployment of UN peacekeepers in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government has strongly protested against this incident. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India has expressed regret over the attack and vandalism on the premises of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission. India has also informed that some people have been arrested in this incident.
Concerns were also expressed over these incidents at the BNP Standing Committee meeting. The party’s policymakers believe that India’s behavior is unethical. They are interfering in Bangladesh’s internal affairs unwarrantedly. Therefore, BNP decided to speak out against India’s propaganda. Immediately after this, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi called for a boycott of Indian products in protest against the insult to the national flag of Bangladesh and the attack on the Assistant High Commission in Agartala. As part of the protest, Rizvi threw an Indian saree given by his wife at a function in front of the National Press Club on Thursday. Later, the leaders and activists set the saree on fire. This time, the three affiliate organizations of BNP are thinking of holding a long march in protest.
Sources said that this long march may take place by December 15. A large number of leaders and activists will participate in this program. A top leader of the Jubo Dal said that it was decided in the initial discussions to start the long march from the Nayapaltan central office. They plan to start this program with a very large convoy. Along the way, leaders and activists of their respective districts will participate in the convoy. There may be two rallies at the beginning and end of the long march. These will be discussed in today’s meeting. In addition, several teams may be formed to make the program successful in an orderly manner. They will hold preparatory meetings with the concerned districts and give various directions. Everything is expected to be finalized in the meeting today, according to relevant sources.
