AFM Hasan Arif, the interim government’s aviation, tourism and land advisor, has passed away (Innalillahi… Rajiun). He died of a heart attack at LabAid Hospital in the capital Dhaka at 3:10 pm on Friday (December 20). His Assistant Private Secretary (APS) Md. Abed Chowdhury confirmed the news to the media.
According to the emergency department of LabAid Hospital, Hasan Arif died of a heart attack. Doctors declared him dead after being taken to the hospital.
AFM Hasan Arif was born in Kolkata in 1941. He completed his secondary and higher secondary education from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Later, he completed his graduation and LLB degrees from the University of Calcutta.
During his career, he worked as a lawyer in the Calcutta High Court, West Bengal, India, in 1967. After that, he came to Dhaka and started working in the High Court of Bangladesh.
AFM Hasan Arif is a former Attorney General of Bangladesh. He held this position from October 2001 to April 2005. He served as an advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Ministry of Land and Religious Affairs of the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed. In addition, he works on advising foreign investors, construction arbitration, commercial arbitration, finance, banking and securities matters, corporate, commercial and taxation matters, constitutional law matters, arbitration and other methods of alternative dispute resolution.
