Reversal News Desk,
Intelligence agencies like the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) can read WhatsApp messages. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed such sensational information. The Facebook founder gave such information on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Friday (January 10). News by Newsbyte.
The report says that if the CIA or other intelligence agencies get a user’s smartphone or other device, they can directly access the messages or information on that device.
Zuckerberg made the comments in response to a question from Rogan about Tucker Carlson’s attempt to arrange an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In February last year, Carlson blamed US authorities, namely the NSA and the CIA, for thwarting his efforts when he claimed to have succeeded in speaking to Putin after three years of failed attempts.
According to Carlson, the agencies had tapped his messages and emails and spied on him. They had also leaked his intentions to the media. This had scared Moscow away from talking to him.
Rogan asked Zuckerberg to explain how this could happen even after the encryption protections were in place to protect the messages.
In response, Zuckerberg said that the really good thing about encryption is that it is designed in such a way that not even the company that runs the service can see it. So if you use WhatsApp, the Meta servers cannot see the content of those messages.
Zuckerberg said that even if someone hacked Meta’s database, they wouldn’t be able to access users’ private texts. However, he noted that encryption doesn’t prevent law enforcement agencies from viewing messages stored on devices.
